NFL DFS Championship Sunday Showdown: Chiefs at Ravens – 1/28/24

CPTN:

Brock Purdy (DK- $15,000, FD- $17,500)

Brock Purdy’s efficiency has dropped slightly in his playoff run so far (78.6% to 59% completion rate) but the passing yards have slightly increased (230 to 252) which could make him viable in both cash and tournaments while potentially getting overlooked. In addition, of the teams remaining on this Championship Sunday DET have surrendered the most yards on average and fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks (18.75). That being said Purdy would be most optimal to stack with SF pass catchers to maximize his value and since he’s more of a pocket passer which is another plus for his passing yardage to slightly increase. Also, despite the rushing edge being tougher for SF here Purdy has the most dynamic running back in the league as his teammate who is likely going to be the main focus for DET which could open up more chances for the SF passing game.

Jahmyr Gibbs (DK- $13,200, FD- $13,000)

Leading up to playoffs the SF defense have been stout against wide receivers allowing the 2nd least receiving yards when facing them on average (345) making Jahmyr Gibbs likely to contribute heavily here. Luckily, both DET running backs have been gradually receiving more offensive snaps so that may end up occurring again with the pass game depending more on their run game compared to both teams. On the other hand, of the two DET backs Gibbs is coming off a start receiving less offensive snaps than his teammate David Montgomery (26 to 41) making him a more viable tournament option. On the positive a crucial difference between Gibbs and Montgomery here is that Gibbs has had three straight games with at least one rushing touchdown and Montgomery has regressed slightly in that regarded coming off a game with none.

UTIL/FLEX:

George Kittle (DK- $6,800, FD- $11,000)

George Kittle has sneakily become the primary pass catching option for Brock Purdy during this playoff run and coming off a nearly double-digit target game (7) with one receiving touchdown with a chance to be one of the top scorers on the slate. Tight end has been the position (outside of quarterback) that both teams have struggled against most, but DET have struggled slightly against them more (12.90 fantasy points surrendered versus 12.83) making Kittle a strong cash and tournament option. Moreover, Kittle is coming off a game nearly playing every offensive snap (97%) with a good chance of maintaining that range here, especially with one of the biggest positional edges on the slate. To the benefit of those that select Kittle he doesn’t have the highest projected ownership among offensive players which should be taken advantage of in contests as well.

Sam LaPorta (DK- $7,000, FD- $10,500)

As for the other tight end and likely to receive high volume once again is Sam LaPorta who may end up being a strong pivot to George Kittle in contests. LaPorta has been a much more efficient player of the two (85.7% reception rate versus Kittle’s 57.1%) making him slightly safer arguably. However, LaPorta shares would be more viable on FanDuel due to having the cheaper price tag and lesser projected ownership but still should be targeted heavily on both sites. Also, with the SF defense preventing wide receivers from having a lot of receiving yards on the higher end (2nd lowest on average thus far) LaPorta should get relied on heavily here and has potential to score heavily for DET in lineups.
