Favorite to Target

Loopy Godinez DraftKings $8,700 | FanDuel $18

I think Godinez can be a sneaky play here on tonight’s card as she currently stands as the 5th highest priced fighter on the slate but currently is projected to be the 11th highest owned.  Unfortunately 7 of her last 8 fight have gone to decision which I’m assuming is partly the reason why the field isn’t going out of their way to get to her.  Still three out of her last nine fight have ended in ceiling outcomes where she topped 127 DraftKings points.  I’ll take a one in three chance at a ceiling output on a favorite who should have the striking advantage.

I do think that Jandiroba is the superior grappler here but Godinez’s take down defense is no joke.  In her last fight she stuffed all six of Tabitha Ricci’s takedown attempts and she should be able to piece up Jandiroba on the feet and wear her down to the point where she’s able to get off takedowns.  Godinez has fights with 8 and 5 takedowns and is on a 4 fight win streak currently.  I think the fear here is that she ends up with a 65 point decision win killing your lineups in the upper $8Ks but if you’re willing to take the risk there’s definitely a monster ceiling and a moderate ownership discount.

Underdog to Target

Manon Fiorot DraftKings $7,400 | FanDuel $16

I think there’s a great case to be made for the dog here in the 5 round headliner Saturday night.  For starters Fiorot should hold the striking advantage as well as have the upper hand in the power department.  Secondly Fiorot has simply fought better competition when comparing their resumes and is coming off the biggest win of her career in her last fight against former champion Rose Namajunas.  Since we have the 5 rounds there’s less of a fear of a clunker score win here but even if that were the case it’s not necessarily the worst thing when you get down the salary range and you’re picking from these lower $7K priced fighters.

Blanchfield is projected as the highest owned player on the slate and I’m just not sure that should be the case.  Sure she has great pressure but her entries are often sloppy and Fiorot should be up to stuff these takedown attempts looking for further than Blanchfield’s last fight where she was a remarkable 0/14.  She still won the fight with over 8 minutes of control time despite not being able to get Talia Santos down but I don’t see her controlling Fiorot like that who is the stronger fighter of the two.  If Fiorot can stuff the takedowns and get her offense off on the feet I think Blanchfield could be in trouble.
