Favorite to Target

Javid Basharat DraftKings $9,500 | FanDuel $21

This slate is filled with appealing heavy favorites and overall it comes down to where do you think you can take a chance on a dog to fill out your lineups as the pricing discrepancy between the favored and underdog fighters is one of the larger ones I can remember.  If you’re looking for a spend up fighter that can provide leverage to your lineups Basharat fits the bill.  His three fights have all gone to decision which we know in UFC DFS isn’t necessarily what we are looking for as we want those early round finishing bonuses.

With that being said he did record two and three takedown in his last 2 bouts and the fight is lined to where he his expected to dominate the action.  A full three rounds of racking up significant strikes, takedowns, and control time could provide a worthy score and he’s currently projecting for around half the ownership for other higher priced fighters like Umar Nurmagomedov and Steve Erceg.  Those fighters on paper look more likely to put up higher scores in their wins, but not to the point where the ownership should come in at an almost 2 to 1 clip.  This has Basharat in that sweet spot I love to highlight where you can pay up to get contrarian and at a projected ownership of just over 20% it won’t occupy a massie chunk of your portfolio to get 1.5-2x. the field on him.

 

Underdog to Target

Loik Radzhabov DraftKings $7,800 | FanDuel $14

Like I said above this slate is slim picking for underdogs.  With the fights having such vast spreads Radzhabov currently looks to be going slightly overlooked in the lower mid range salary threshold.  His win condition hinges on the fact of if he can score takedowns or not.  If he’s able to have success early getting Al-Sewaldy to the ground he could put up a massive score as we’ve already seen him put up a ridiculous 11 takedown performance in a decision win where he produced 120 DraftKings points.

With four fighters priced in the $6K salary range I think most builds will try to jam in as many favorites as possible and a main event fighter.  With the main event being priced right in this range as well with Jairzinho Rozenstruik ($7,900) and Shamil Gaziev ($8,300) Radzhabov and his wrestling upside looks a solid underdog bet on a card starved for live dogs.
