Core Plays

Stefanos Tsitsipas $8,800

Tsitsipas has a great third round matchup against Tomas Machac of the Czech Republic. Tsitsipas hasn’t played awful but also hasn’t played his best tennis as of late either. His opponent is an up and coming player who only has 10 matches at the tour level this season. If we take a look at their ELO ratings, Tsitsipas has a hard court rating of 8 while Machac has a hard court rating of 72. With him being a -225 favorite, he is a nice option compared to the higher priced ones on this slate.

Felix Auger-Aliassime $8,600

Auger-Aliassime has struggled but faced some tough opponents. He might have found some form here and has a great matchup in his second round. He was given a Wild Card to enter into the tournament and is the #6 seed and is hoping to make a run in Basel. He faces Botic Van de Zandschulp who has also dealt with some struggles with recent form. In fact, Van de Zandschulp hasn’t had a straight set win since the middle of April. If we look at their ELO ratings for hard courts, Auger-Aliassime has a rating of 14 while Van de Zandschulp has a hard court rating of 49. Auger-Aliassime is a -195 favorite to win today and is a nice mid-range value for today’s slate.

Sebastian Baez $6,100

Baez won his opening round matchup against Christopher O’Connell in a tight three-set match. Today, he faces Holger Rune, who is the number one seed for the tournament. Rune has struggled recently, losing five of his last seven matches since the beginning of August. Baez hasn’t played his best either and hard courts is neither one of their strong suits but with Baez being the cheaper of the too, I like him as a value option. If we take a look at their ELO ratings, Baez holds a hard court rating of 73 while Rune holds a hard court rating of 21. Baez is a +180 underdog to win today and could be the value we are looking for on this small slate.
