DraftKings & FanDuel NASCAR DFS Core Plays & Cheat Sheet – EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix

DraftKings & FanDuel NASCAR DFS – EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix

The NASCAR Cup Series returns this week for road course racing at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas for the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix. Below, we analyze crucial considerations and top plays for DraftKings and FanDuel daily fantasy sports contests.

Joey Logano – DK: $7,400 | FD: $7,200

A crucial thing to consider with respect to road course racing at COTA is that because of the length of the track and, thus, the low number of laps being run relative to other races, dominator points from leading laps and running fastest laps is substantially less important than at some of the longer tracks on the Cup Series schedule. In fact, the race is only slated for a total of 68 laps, translating to just above 47 total DraftKings dominator points available to all drivers. That being said, finishing position and place differential will be overwhelmingly important today.

Joey Logano is set to start near the back of the race in the 35th position. While it will be hard to make passes on this track, Logano is among the best drivers on the planet and figures to have a favorable chance to work his way inside the top 20 by the time the race is over. While most of the top-finish equity is distributed among those starting in the front today, Logano is a very safe play in cash games at his salary and has some upside in tournaments, given his starting position and the dynamics of scoring for today’s race.

Ty Gibbs – DK: $8,700 | FD: $11,500

Ty Gibbs is starting in the second spot today and is expected to have a considerable chance to compete for a victory this afternoon. In fact, Gibbs is the favorite to win the event today according to betting markets.

While Gibbs offers very little in terms of point differential upside given his starting spot in the race, the favorable odds to finish in a top spot provide a high likelihood for him to accrue solid finishing position points. Moreover, because of how difficult it will be to pass and the speed of Gibbs car (which multiple drivers have remarked on), Gibbs could have a chance to make up for the low point differential upside with the small amount of dominator point upside, as he is expected to run up front for the bulk of the race.

Gibbs is an excellent upside option in tournaments given his a favorable likelihood to finish at the top of the leaderboard.
